The Hike

This morning I went hiking at Fortuna mountain (http://www.yelp.com/biz/fortuna-mountain-san-diego). The trail is located only 20 minutes from UCSD and although I would classify this trail as a casual trail, it is one of the more challenging ones that I have hiked in San Diego. The loop that we choose ran along the perimeter of the mountain starting from the Clairemont entrance where we parked. Because of time constraints, we didn't actually finish the entire perimeter loop and had to cut from a northern junction halfway all the way down south.

The quality of the hike itself was pretty good. Initially, I was disappointed with how flat the hike started out but after a few minutes it did pick up and at some parts were even quite strenuous.

One of the highlights of this hike was the green around us. The view of the surrounding mountains was also very beautiful.

All in all, even though we did not complete the hike, I was surprised with how beat I was at the end of it. Fortuna mountain is definitely a hike I would suggest to others.
