Vista Pub and Battle Rock State Park (Pacific Coast Highway Roadtrip)

Soon, we reached the border between California and Oregon.

First bar that we stopped by in Oregon? The Vista Pub in Brookings, Oregon.

Address: 1009 Chetco Ave, Brookings, OR 97415

A great place to stop by, friendly service, good food, nice beer. I had the Gold Beach lager.

I give the beer here 4/6. See: http://hikerrific.blogspot.com/2016/07/willys-beer-ranking-system.html

Afterwards, we stopped by Battle Rock State Park in Port Orford.

Location: 152 Pacific Coast Scenic Byway Port Orford, OR 97465

The "park" appears more like a beach than it is a park.

There is some history here involving the native Indians and the early settlers, but what immediately commands your attention is the giant rock in front of the parking lot to your right (if you're facing the ocean). With a bit of scrambling and 5-10 minutes later, the top of the rock affords you a nice view of the coast. It's not as superb as what you'll grow accustomed to along the 101 but it's definitely not a complete waste of your time if you're up for a little adventure and exercise.
